Let's Celebrate YOU!

As I sat down to write this blog, I was overwhelmed with possibilities. There is so much incredible inspiration to write about and honestly, the options are endless. My mind was buzzing with inspiration. And then it dawned on me- the perfect topic is just that!

We are surrounded by inspirational women every day of the year

Don’t get me wrong, I’m absolutely stoked about International Women’s Day! Not only in terms of being a small business owner, but on a global scale.

Every single day (and every day in history) women everywhere have impacted the world in which we live today. Women waking up and deciding to be history makers and women waking up and creating history without even knowing it. We owe them a debt of gratitude for paving this trail on which we have the privilege to walk.

However today, on this International Women’s Day my focus is on small the business community and the ways that my own world has been positively impacted.

You see, I started out with a dream, a laptop and $1000

After my beautiful children were born, I had the most incredible opportunity to stay at home and nurture them, devoting years to celebrating them and soaking up every single second. After a time, I decided I wanted to re enter the workforce, but then the imposter syndrome kicked in.

“Who would employ someone that’s been a Mum all this time”

“If working from home was possible, everyone would do it”

That nasty little voice that I drowned out, would become the backbone of my success.

I started out with a dream, a laptop and $1000. After so many years at home, my savings had dwindled and I knew I had to start with what I had, or never start at all. So I threw everything I had at my dream, I stepped off that ledge and I took the leap.

And what happened next was incredible

As I stepped off that ledge, my proverbial security blanket; I did not fall. I was caught in the metaphorical arms of thousands of likeminded women, networking in business and Virtual Assistant groups on social media. Unbeknownst to me, there was (and still is!) an incredible network of women all around Australia and beyond, who value community over competition.

These women, who knew absolutely nothing about me, saw my dreams and helped me to make them a reality. Who knew something like this even existed? Certainly not me! And here I am now in 2023, my dreams a reality. This is my opportunity to stand on my pedestal and thank them, to thank YOU.

Be the woman that adjusts another woman’s crown

We’ve all heard the saying. Be that woman, the one who lifts up another woman when she needs your support. Give her the much-needed advice to get her over the line in her hour of need.

You are a part of that community, that hivemind. You don’t need to look very far to see that these women are in your community too.

So on this international women’s day, let us celebrate each other. Let us celebrate the trail blazers that came before us, the women around us today and the women that will succeed us. Let’s raise a glass to this community that we have created because without each other we would not have this incredible community safety net that we are all proud to be a part of.
