From Yawn to Yes: How to Inject Your Brand’s Personality into Your Copy

Alright, let’s be real for a sec.  No one wants to read copy that sounds like it was churned out by your tax agent (sorry tax agents, we love your number magic!). Your brand has a personality (even if you’re still figuring out exactly what it is), and your copy should reflect that!


Here’s the scoop:  Your words are often the first impression someone has of your business. Whether that’s ;landing on your socials or your website, If they’re as flat as a pancake on a Monday morning, you’re probably not giving off the vibe you’re going for, so let’s change that, pronto.





Be Memorable for the Right Reasons

Think about your favourite brands. Literally any brand! Food, clothes, gadgets,  chances are, they don’t just sell you a product, they make you feel something. They’re selling you an experience.


Whether it’s cheeky, confident, serious or straight up hilarious, that brand voice sticks with you. We want people to remember your brand, right? Then let’s get a little more spice in that copy!





Pump Up the Personality:


Ditch the corporate jargon.  No one’s going to be impressed by fancy words if they sound like they came out of a legal handbook. Keep it real and talk like a human.


Know your audience. Are they the kind who love a well placed pun? Or do they vibe with straight talk and no fluff? Match your tone to their expectations (without losing your brand’s essence, it’s ok to be YOU.)


Be a little bit brave! It’s easy to play it safe, but the brands that stand out aren’t afraid to be a bit cheeky, bold or quirky. Find your edge and run with it. There’s no one you’er than you.


Tell a story and create an experience. Whether it’s a little anecdote or a clever analogy, stories give your copy that human touch. People remember stories , they’re way more fun than bullet points.


So, what does personality driven copy sound like?




  • Cheeky “Our coffee beans are so good, your instant stuff might file a complaint.”


  • Confident: “You deserve a website that makes people stay”


  • Playful  “We’re like your business best friend! Here to hype you up and make your life easier.”


Don’t let your brand sound like everyone else. Your voice is what makes you unique, so let it shine through your copy and watch how people start to connect with your message (and actually remember it!).
